RABBI KIMPIOKA
When he was ten years old, Rabby came to the UK and began schooling in Edmonton. It was a huge change in his environment, which severely affected his behaviour. His actions became so problematic that in year8. Rabby was kicked out of school and sent to a referral unit to continue his studies. He began to show signs of improvement and so, after two years, Rabby was allowed back in to mainstream schooling. However, within two weeks of his studies, Rabby was sent back to the referral unit, until the end of his GCSE’s.
The turn Rabby’s life took was as an immediate result of his environment, being around a lot of crime and gang activity. The scheduling of his referral unit meant that he had more time on his hands and this led him into anti-social activities. Soon enough, Rabby found himself deeply involved in gang activity. This intensified by the stabbing and death of his friend with his gang looking for retaliation.
Besides this, Rabby had a huge passion for football and wanted to pursue it as a career. His talent gave him an opportunity to play with a few professional teams and at the age of 20, he left London to Poland to play professionally but suffered a traumatic injury. He was unable to receive the medical help he needed and so, was forced to come back to his life in North London.
The difficult incident caused Rabby to fall into depression and eventually led him back to the gang life. However, Rabby always knew he wanted better for himself. He started working and joined the Broxbourne FC, where he met a member of the Elite Community. This member invited Rabby to the weekly meetings and on his first attendance, he saw an opportunity to change his life forever.
Rabby joined our mentorship scheme and soon began receiving real life support, helping him through his trauma and building him into the great leader he is today. Rabby is now a mobile celebrity barber; this is only a testament to the mentorship and guidance he received from the Elite Community. Rabby is now set to open his own barbering salon by the end of 2022. He is one of our main volunteers and has become a great help to many men his age and younger, who he now mentors and leads. The Elite Community gave him the help and support he needed to become a great leader in North London
